I've decided to work on my rock making skills and this is the third step on that journey. The focus was to make a rock cylinder which could then be instanced to make larger rock structures and a flat rock which could also be instanced. The rocks were modeled and UVed in Zbrush and rendered in 3ds max using mental ray. I think this came out better than my previous studies. I used some color adjusted Megascans materials to texture the floor and background rocks and the the main rocks were textured in Photoshop with a rockscan from cgtextures as the base and Photoshop was used to customize the textures for each rock. Xnormal was used to bake various maps used in the texturing process. There is some postwork in photoshop practice makes perfect with that as well.
